दो अश्विन कुमारों, जिन्हें अश्विनीकुमार या अश्विनेद्व के नाम से भी जाना जाता है, इनका उल्लेख हिंदू धर्म और वैदिक साहित्य दोनों में देवताओं के रूप में किया गया है। ऋग्वेद में अश्विनी कुमारों के 398 संदर्भ हैं, और केवल उनके सम्मान में 50 से अधिक श्लोक हैं। ऋग्वेद में हर जगह, दो कुमारों को दोहरे रूप में "अश्विनीकुमारौ" कहा जाता है; उनका कोई अलग नाम नहीं है।

आयुर्वेद के आदि आचार्य अश्विनी कुमार ही माने जाते हैं। वे भगवान की दवा और मरहम लगाने वाले के रूप में सेवा करते हैं। उन्हें कुंवारी का पति भी माना जाता है। उन्हें अंधे को दृष्टि और वृद्धों को युवावस्था देने वाला कहा गया है। उनके दो पुत्र थे, नकुल और सहदेव, दोनों को महाभारत में "अश्विनी" कहा गया है।

वे पूरे ऋग्वैदिक युग में कुशल शल्य चिकित्सक थे। उनके चिकित्सक होने प्रमाण कुछ इस प्रकार हैं - वृद्धावस्था से कुपोषित होने के बावजूद यौवन प्राप्त करने के लिए च्यवन ऋषि की त्वचा को संशोधित करना। जब विशाला का पैर द्रौना में कट गया, तो उन्होंने इसे लोहे के पैर से बदल दिया। बांझ वाद्रिमती को एक पुत्र, नेत्रहीन ऋजश्व को दृष्टि, बधिर नरषद को सुनने की शक्ति, बुजुर्ग घोष को युवा रूप दिया गया। बांझ गाय को प्रसव के लिए तैयार करने जैसे कई संदर्भ बताते हैं कि वे कुशल सर्जन थे।

अश्विनी कुमार का जन्म कैसे हुआ?

एक प्राचीन कथा है जिसका उल्लेख ऋग्वेद में मिलता है। इस कहानी को जानकर आपको हैरानी होगी कि भगवान सूर्य एक घोड़ी पर मोहित हो गए थे। भगवान सूर्य की पत्नी संध्या ने छाया को बनाया क्योंकि वह सूर्य के तेज से डरती थी। देवी संध्या ने छाया को स्वर्गलोक में छोड़ दिया और स्वयं पृथ्वी लोक चली गईं। जब सूर्य देव को इस बात का पता चला, तो उन्होंने संध्या की खोज में पृथ्वी की यात्रा की। सूर्य देव ने एक अद्भुत घोड़ी को घास के मैदान में टहलते हुए देखा। संध्या को घोड़ी के रूप में पहचानकर सूर्य देव उसके पास पहुंचे।

सूर्य देव और संध्या के संयोग से दो पुरुष उत्पन्न हुए। घोड़ी से पैदा होने के कारण सूर्य देव ने इनका नाम अश्विनी कुमार रखा। इन दो अश्विनी कुमार के नाम नासत्य और दस्त्र हैं।

मधु-विद्या की प्राप्ति

दोनों अश्विनीकुमारों ने चिकित्सा विज्ञान में बहुत कुछ सीखा था। इसके परिणामस्वरूप वे तीनों दुनिया में उच्च प्रशंसा प्राप्त कर रहे थे। उन्होंने बाद में मधुविद्या को प्राप्त करने का निर्णय लिया। यह सुनते ही देवराज इंद्र परेशान हो गए। उन्होंने त्रिलोक में घोषणा की कि अश्विनी कुमारों को मधुविद्या किसी से नहीं मिलनी चाहिए। जो कोई भी ऐसा करता, उसका सिर उसके शरीर से अलग कर दिया जाता।

दधीचि उस समय के साहसी ब्रह्मनिष्ठ संतों में से एक थे। यही कारण है कि कुमार उनके आश्रम गए। दोनों ने ऋषि के सामने प्रणाम किया और मधुविद्या के आशीर्वाद की याचना की। इन्द्र की घोषणा से भी अवगत कराया। ऋषि दधीचि कहते हैं: "एक ऋषि को स्वतंत्र रूप से और साहसपूर्वक जिज्ञासु को ज्ञान देना चाहिए, और मैं वही करूंगा। भले ही मैं इस जिम्मेदारी को निभाते हुए मर जाऊं।"

अश्विनीकुमारद्वय बुद्धिमान थे। उन्होंने इसके बारे में सोचा और कहा "नहीं ऋषिवर, हमारे पास इस मुद्दे को हल करने का समाधान है। यदि आप सहमत हैं ..."। उस ज्ञानी ने भी अपना आशीर्वाद दिया। ऋषि दधीचि के सिर को तब हटा दिया गया था और दोनों कुमारों द्वारा घोड़े के सिर से बदल दिया गया था। इस घोड़े के सिर में दधीचि ने दोनों कुमारों को मधुविद्या दी। इस बात का पता चलते ही इंद्र ने तुरंत अपने दिव्य अस्त्र से उन पर प्रहार किया। ऋषि की धड़ से जुड़ा अश्वशीश (अश्व यानी घोड़े का शीश) टूट कर बिखर गया। अपना क्रोध प्रकट करने के बाद, इंद्र चले गए। सुरक्षित रखे ऋषि दधीचि का मस्तक अब पहले की तरह अश्विनी कुमारों ने अपनी विधि से उनके धड़ से जोड़ दिया और ऋषि की रक्षा की।

Who is Lord Ashwini Kumar?

There is an old story which is mentioned in the Rigveda. Knowing this story, you will be surprised that Lord Surya,not a common man seduced by a mare. Sandhya, Lord Surya's wife, created Chhaya to be her opposite because she was afraid of his glory and tej. Then goddess sandhya left chhaya in the swarglok and moved to earth(prithwi lok). When Surya Dev discovered of this, he travelled to the earth in quest of Sandhya. Surya Dev noticed a stunning mare strolling through a meadow. Surya Dev approached Sandhya after recognising her as a mare.

From the union of the Sun God and Sandhya, two men were produced. Sun God named them Ashwini Kumaras since they were born from a mare.

Two Ashwin kumaras, also known as Ashwinikumar or Ashwadev, are mentioned in both Hinduism and Vedic literature as "Ashvinau," as deities. The Rigveda has 398 references to Ashwini Kumaras, and more than 50 hymns in honour of them alone. Everywhere in the Rigveda, the two Kumaras are referred to as "Ashwinikumarau" in dual form; they have no separate names.

The Adi Acharya of ayurveda is thought to be Ashwini Kumar. They serve as the god's medic and healer. They are regarded as the virgin's husband as well. Both Ashwinikumars had learned a lot of things in medical science. They were receiving high acclaim in all three of the worlds as a result of this. They made the decision to acquire Madhuvidya later on. Devraj Indra was upset when he heard of this. He declared at Trilok that Ashwini Kumars should not get Madhuvidya from anyone. Anybody who did this would have his head severed from his body.

Dadhichi was one of the courageous Brahmanishtha sages at the period. That is the reason why the Kumars went to his ashram. Both of them bowed before the sage and pleaded for the blessing of Madhuvidya. also informed him of Indra's announcement. Says Rishi Dadhichi: "A sage must freely and boldly offer wisdom to the curious, and I shall do the same. even if I die while carrying out this responsibility."

Ashwinikumardvay were intelligent. they tought about it and said "No Rishivar, we have a solution to solve this issue . If you agree...". The wise man also offered his blessing to that. The head of the sage Dadhichi was then removed and replaced by the head of a horse by both Kumaras. In this horse-head, Dadhichi gave Madhuvidya to both Kumaras. Indra quickly struck him with his celestial weapon as soon as he learned of this. Ashwashish, which was attached to the sage's trunk, broke off and shattered. After expressing his anger, Indra left. The head of Rishi Dadhichi, which remained secure, was now united to his torso like before by the Ashwini Kumars using their method.
